Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo first hinted at a new album back in April 2016, shortly after the band released their tenth album Weezer (The White Album). “What could stand out more against ‘White’ than ‘Black’? I think it’s going to maybe be like Beach Boys gone bad. I’m thinking of swearing, which is something I’ve never done in songs.”
On October 11, 2018, Weezer finally released the upcoming albums’ lead single “Can’t Knock the Hustle”. The second single, “Zombie Bastards,” was released on November 21st, alongside the official announcement of the Black Album, which is scheduled for release on March 1, 2019. The Black Album will be Weezer’s 13th studio album and is produced by Dave Sitek.
