While there have been numerous announcements surrounding changes to the World’s Loudest Month festival series produced by Danny Wimmer Presents for 2019, a few questions have started to pop up. For rock and metal music fans in Somerset, Wisconsin, one of the big ones is: will Northern Invasion return in 2019?
Although no official announcement has been made as of yet, signs are starting to point to an unfortunate no, and here’s why.
Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) dropped a press release on September 7th, 2018, announcing the Spring 2019 festival lineup. The press release provided solidified dates for the return of Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville, FL, the replacement of Rock on the Range with Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival, as well as the announcement for a new destination music festival in North Carolina. Additionally, DWP revealed the return of Chicago Open Air to take place in May 2019. Sadly, there was no mention of Northern Invasion or Fort Rock, the smaller two day festivals in the World’s Loudest Month series.
Furthermore, “Save the Date” announcements and dates for early bird tickets had been announced by November in past years. Lineups were released in early December, but there have been no mentions of any of the above. The official Northern Invasion website still displays the lineup poster and dates for 2018.
And if that wasn’t enough to convince you – it looks like the official Northern Invasion Facebook Page has started quietly responding to messages with regards to the festival status, stating, “Unfortunately, Northern Invasion will not be returning in 2019.”
Again, there has been no official public announcement, but we will keep this space updated as we learn more. And who knows? Maybe we’ll see some of the smaller festivals return as a fall series later in 2019, or a return in 2020. Anything is possible!
