After two very successful first years of Chicago Open Air in 2016 and 2017, it came as a surprise to most attendants that the music festival was taking a hiatus in 2018. There wasn’t much hubbub or explanation, just a simple note that they’d be back in 2019.
And today, Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) has confirmed the return of Chicago Open Air to take place during the same weekend as the inaugural Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival on May 17th through May 19th. The festival will remain at its home venue, Toyota Park, in Bridgeview, Illinois.
A new event called “A Day in the Park” will take place during the weekend, but no specifics about the event have been released yet. Further details and lineup will be announced in the coming months.
