With 53 shows, 10 festivals and 196 bands covered, 2014 was my busiest year, and also one of the most fun yet. Below is a recap of some of my favorite shots and highlights from the year.

Leigh Kakaty Pop Evil at The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC. Photo by Lizzy Davis.

My first show of 2014 was Stone Sour and Pop Evil. Within days of posting my coverage, Leigh Kakaty (vocalist of Pop Evil) contacted me, interested in a print of the above shot... and with that, the year was already off to a killer start!

February was a dead month, but in April, I covered Buckcherry for the first of three times this year. They were kind enough to share the review and photos repeatedly throughout the months following.

I also received a Daily Deviation award for "that one photo of Shinedown" on April 4th.

May was a crazy awesome month, traveling from Florida for Welcome to Rockville, Virginia Beach for Lunatic Luau, homebound to North Carolina for Carolina Rebellion, then up to Ohio for Rock on the Range. At Rock on the Range, I had the amazing opportunity to shoot Adelitas Way from the stage.

The festivals continued into June, with the first ever Operation Rock Fest in Fredericksburg, VA, and Rock The Yard in Kernersville, NC. Both festivals consisted largely of bands on the rise, but I was impressed with every single one of them. Also stoked to see that a couple of them are already slotted to appear on some of the 2015 World's Loudest Month festivals!

After Operation Rock Fest, I fell in love with photographing Super bob. Every member makes for extremely interesting subject matter with wild hair and tattoos, plus they have an overwhelming amount of energy on stage. It was equally awesome to see them share nearly every photo I posted.

August was another big month. The first weekend alone, I provided all access coverage of Mayhem on the Mountain in West Virginia then traveled across to Virginia the next morning for Rockstar Mayhem Fest.

Mayhem on the Mountain ended up being one of most intimate I've ever witnessed, and Hoobastank (headliners) did the coolest thing - it was pouring buckets, so they invited the small crowd to sit on stage, wherever they fit. At the end of their set, there was a surprise of fireworks! Talk about a unique, once in a lifetime experience for the fans that were there!

Mushroomhead at Rockstar Mayhem Festival 2014 in Bristow, VA. Photo by Lizzy Davis.

I was stoked to finally have the opportunity to shoot Mushroomhead at Mayhem Fest. I've seen so many photos of the water drums, and it's definitely a must have shot in the portfolio collection.

Synyster Gates Avenged Sevenfold at Rockstar Mayhem Fest 2014 in Virginia. Photo by Lizzy Davis.

It turned out to be the right date to shoot Mayhem Fest, as the tour manager claimed to be having a "good day" and granted photographers permission to shoot Avenged Sevenfold's first four songs (an awesome step up from the usual first three).

Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden continued making August a strong month...

Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda Linkin Park in Charlotte, NC. Photo by Lizzy Davis.

And I finally got to shoot my favorite band from middle school and high school -- Linkin Park.

Rockstar Uproar gave a flamin' hot close out to August.

Adrian Patrick of Otherwise, Peace At All Costs album thank yous. Photo by Lizzy Davis.

In September, I made a trip to South Carolina to see my boys in Adelitas Way open up for The Pretty Reckless. One of my closest photography friends, Sarah Carmody, received a message from the one and only Johnny Price letting us know that Otherwise had given us all thank you shout outs in their new album. Easily one of the best surprises of 2014.

Carla Harvey Butcher Babies Uncovered EP Album Cover. Photo by Lizzy Davis.

I kept my biggest announcement of the year a secret until Butcher Babies dropped their Uncovered EP release on September 30th - featuring my photo of Carla Harvey smack dab on the cover.

Korn performing at the first ever Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, KY. Photo by Lizzy Davis.

It was nice to have a new festival introduced in October. Louder Than Life definitely spiced up the fall and and made the wait until all of next year's May festivals slightly more bearable. It was also a pleasure to be able to take part in documenting the first piece of the festival's history.

Chris Kael Five Finger Death Punch in Knoxville, TN. Photo by Lizzy Davis.

Every now and then, I post a photo that isn't quite up to the usual level of quality I strive for. The triple combo of fog, finger point and eye contact won out over the strange lighting/graininess - and it was endlessly flattering and reassuring when Chris Kael and Five Finger Death Punch shared the photo.

Derek Wieland of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. TSO at the Greensboro Coliseum in NC. Photo by Lizzy Davis.

When winter gets quiet, I always greatly look forward to one show even though I never get to shoot it. Trans-Siberian Orchestra has been a tradition for my dad and I since 2007 and after seeing them that first time, I requested to cover the show every year, despite always being denied. This year however, I finally got to knock out that life goal, with approval to photograph TSO in Greensboro, NC.

Andy Biersack Black Veil Brides at The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC. Photo by Lizzy Davis.

And finally, Black Veil Brides marked my last show of the year in early December. (That is unless something unexpected pops up in the next ten days!)

I'm already getting shows lined up for January, plus I will be having my first ever gallery show as a featured artist in RAW's Visionary showcase in Charlotte on January 15th! I would love to see all my friends, fellow photographers, rock music fans or otherwise out there. I will be offering select limited edition prints for sale. Please be sure to grab a ticket or donate if you can't make it out!

Here's to a bigger, better, louder, and generally more badass 2015!

Merry Holidays & a Happy New Year to everyone!
